Dorota defies easy categorization; she is an entrepreneur, educator, business owner, creative scholar in design and interior architecture, and a passionate advocate for women and children. Holding a Master of Science degree from PRATT Institute, Dorota is actively involved in several organizations, including GRI, NYWCC, ABWA, the Tory Burch Foundation, WENYC, and WBE. In 2010, she co-founded World of ABC, The Waldo School, and later expanded her ventures to include the Academy of Excellence Preschool, Cafe Peanut, and Design by Mani, an interior design studio.
The Academy is a premium boutique preschool located in waterfront Jersey City, designed to nurture academic development in young children while promoting independence and social and emotional maturity. This esteemed institution is dedicated to empowering its students for the future with comprehensive preparation, fostering an open mind, and encouraging creative, ethical, and ambitious thinking. Through its innovative curriculum and supportive environment, The Academy aims to equip young learners with the skills and confidence needed to navigate the complexities of the world with ease and competence, growing future leaders and global citizens.
Cafe Peanut is an organic café nestled in the community’s heart, known for its artistic interiors, organic cuisine, live music, and bands. Beyond its cultural and culinary offerings, the café actively contributes to the welfare of Hudson County’s most vulnerable populations by providing nutritious meals, demonstrating a strong commitment to social responsibility and community support.
Design by Mani is a boutique design studio where Dorota’s approach to interior design is deeply client-focused and contextually inspired, seamlessly blending her clients’ practical needs and aesthetic preferences with the location’s unique characteristics. Her designs often incorporate a dash of whimsy, adding a playful yet sophisticated element that enhances the overall ambiance. This signature approach ensures that each space is functional, well-integrated with its surroundings, and possesses an element of surprise and delight, reflecting a tailored and thoughtful design philosophy.
Dorota champions the philosophy that businesses should maintain a balance between fiduciary duties and moral responsibilities. She currently contributes her time and expertise as a board member for Phoenix University and the Hudson County Workforce Development, a position she has held since 2014. Additionally, she collaborates with the Coalition for Food and Health Equity and mentors aspiring women entrepreneurs through various organizations.
She holds the belief that success is not a right but a privilege that must be earned daily through discipline and thoughtful action. Dorota embodies the spirit of a ‘Dreamer,’ continually seeking new challenges and opportunities to grow and make a meaningful impact.
